Using Minerals is like taking a leap over time: back to the origins of man on Earth.

The minerals, used at the beginning for their solidity, have afterwards been increasingly appreciated for the many differences they offer,
both in their characteristics and in their structure.

They are in fact composed by Nature and the “ingredients”, chosen at random, give visual effects that make each of their small parts unique and unrepeatable.
The same “ingredients” bestow different characteristics on them.

Also the uses of these beautiful and fascinating materials gradually evolved;
the experience given by their constant use has highlighted some features that have made each mineral more appreciated than others for specific purposes related to their performance.

Marble, Prince of Minerals – from the Greek marmaros, “shining stone” – with a luminous aspect, already enchanted the people of Mesopotamia. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans were fascinated by its beauty and variety and its durability.

Artists can find and represent its light by choosing it, to make their most important statues. White Marble, particularly that one, has a very low refraction index and allows light to penetrate it before being reflected, giving it an indefinite appearance in the statues that recalls human skin.

Rocks, Stones and Sand, although classified in the sense and in the common language in an objectively different way, have a single origin: the mantle, or crust, of the Earth; we could also define it her skin. They formed in different ways, three are the main ones, but they all have a common characteristic: they combine different minerals and elements. The difference is given exclusively by their size.

Their use has enabled the human species to evolve; without the use of rocks, in fact, men could not defend themselves or hunt. Also in this case the different specific characteristics make it one of the most used materials on earth, useful for the most disparate tasks.

During his evolutionary journey, man has benefited, appreciated, taken the best from Minerals.
Now it’s time to give back.

With firmness and determination we assumed the task of giving shape and body to two specific commitments:

• to bring justice to the minerals that are considered waste because of their shape or size;
• exclude the use of synthetic binders, to attribute greater value and strength to Minerals and their naturalness.

For this reason we have developed MarbleSkin™.
It is a craft process that was born from our deep passion for Minerals and
the will to respect Nature.

MarbleSkin™ is a product of Italian Artisan Culture;
it reinterprets ancient processes and application techniques to use new natural binders,
and use this wonderful gift of Nature to meet the needs,
even the impossible ones, of Modern Creatives.

With MarbleSkin™ you can:

Choose a granulometry of different size, a visible and tangible one or fine like powder.

Use only natural, recyclable and environmentally friendly materials and binders.

Cover any material: stone, glass, metal, wood, plastic, polystyrene, plexiglass, …

Make indoor or outdoor objects, as it is resistant to atmospheric agents.

Get a very thin finish: with the finest granulometry, it can reach a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm.

Producing lightweight stone or marble elements: the weight of the coating has a minimal influence and with a little bit of creativity you will get objects that will amaze you with their lightness.

Granulated marble is mixed with our binder and applied in a manual way by certified artisans. The process then allows, if desired, subsequent processing to obtain the desired surface characteristics.

Potentially MarbleSkin™ allows the use of any Mineral existent in Nature. In fact, today we have used numerous types of Marbles, Quartz and other types of common stones. If you would like to use a particular type of stone, tell us: we will evaluate the possibility of testing its performance. Alternatively, tell us about the features you are searching for, such as color or a specific aesthetic or performance requirement: our experts will tell you the most suitable Mineral.

Our binder does not contain resins: it is natural, water based; it is recyclable and environmentally friendly.
It is the result of our internal R&D and, given its remarkable characteristics, we patented it.

MarbleSkin™ is very thin, starting from 1.5 mm. It covers every size and shape, as long as it can be reached by our craftsman’s hand: even curved and complex surfaces, with continuity.
Minerals can be mixed and, together with the application process, we can get countless aesthetic combinations.
The process doesn’t create waste, and moreover, it gives new life to the Minerals discarded by other processes.

The coated object can be our printed stone or different materials such as glass, plastic, wood, metal, plexiglass, polystyrene, … contact us: if the material of the object you want to cover is not listed, we will test it.

At the current level of development of the binder and the process, the technical characteristics and mechanical properties of the finish depend largely on the base material chosen. However, we intend to look forward: tell us about your specific need, we have several R&D projects aimed at developing additional performance qualities.

MarbleSkin™ is a relatively young process: for several years the binder we use has been subjected to R&D (and still is). Since then, the works carried out (and the numerous tests, both internal and at the University of Padua) underline MarbleSkin™ resistance to time, wear and typical continental and Mediterranean climatic conditions.

  1. Some images or photos in which shape, dimensions and proportions of the surface to be covered are clearly visible, from all sides. If available, the digital model of the object is ideal.
  2. The description or some representative images of the desired external look, for example type of mineral, color, texture (smooth, shiny, rough, …).
  3. Further indications: the surface will be subject to stresses, movements, high temperatures, frictions. Sometimes, the overall project description can help us identify any performance needs.
